2. Automatically Collected Metadata
When you send requests to our servers, certain metadata is automatically transmitted:
IP Address: Temporarily stored to enable communication between your device and our server, as well as to prevent misuse (e.g., excessive requests, spam prevention, and security monitoring).
Operating system and hardware information: This information is not stored.
3. Data Required for Core Functionality
To provide basic app functionality, we collect and store the following data:
Generated User ID: Created locally when the app is first used. This ID allows us to associate user-generated content with your account. If you later create a registered user account, your previous actions will be linked to the new account.
Displayed Username: This is customizable and allows user-generated content to be presented under a chosen username.
System Language: Used to display content in the correct language.
Location Data (With Consent): If granted, your location is stored and used to personalize map content and enhance your experience.
4. Voluntary User-Generated Content
You may voluntarily submit the following data:
Names and details of dog-friendly locations or warnings added to the app.
Photos uploaded to locations.
Comments on locations.
Reports indicating incorrect information about a location or warning.
Ratings of locations.
This user-generated content is stored in our database, and is only used within the app on any current or future platform (that could for instance include a browser-based web version of the service). It is not sold or transmitted to any third parties.
5. Third-Party Services
DogHive utilizes third-party services:
Mapbox: Provides mapping, place searches, and geolocation services.
Personal data sent to Mapbox includes your system language to ensure correctly localized data, and, if you consent to the use of your location, the location is shared with Mapbox to improve quality of search results by preferring results close to your current location.
Standard request metadata (e.g., IP address, operating system) is also transmitted.
